Beavers belong to the first and youngest Section in the Scouting family.

Young people can join Beaver Scouts on their sixth birthday or the term just after. They can move to the next Section, Cub Scouts, the term after they turn eight years old.

Easily recognised by their distinctive turquoise sweatshirts, Beaver Scouts enjoy making friends, playing games, going on visits and helping others.

Some activities both our colonies have taken part in include sledging, swimming, cooking, sleepovers, archery, rock climbing and so many more.

The colony quite often has visitors come to see them at the hut such as the police and animal experts and the Beavers also go and visit other people such as the fireman at St Albans fire station.

During and in between the visits, the visitors and the activities the Beavers work towards their badges. Their are three different types of badges that the Beavers can earn; challenge, activity and staged. Each of these badges looks at different areas of Scouting such as my world, my personal challenges and my skills.
