Scouting is a uniformed organisation and the uniform is one of the things that make being a Beaver, Cub or Scout special. Our uniform is worn for most weekly meetings and to and from camps and similar activities (unless otherwise informed). WHAT IS THE UNIFORM?
Everyone in the Group wears the Group neckerchief, which has blue and gold halves. We all also wear some of the same badges: the Group nametape, St Albans and Herts County badges and the World Scout Badge (Membership badge). The neckerchief and these badges are presented when when the new member is first invested into the Group. They can continue to wear all these as they progress through the Group, WHETHER OR NOT they are invested into a new section. In practice new Group name tapes are presented on transferring between sections, as this badge is difficult to transfer between tops. Other badges are presented as indicated below. In addition our Group can wear the FURY badge: Fellowship of United Reformed Youth, presented when a member has attended two church parades at our sponsoring church (see the Group Guide). POSITION OF BADGES There are pictures that show where to put badges on uniform tops of each section. These will open in a new window as pdf files Badges are obtained as follows. BUYING UNIFORM
What do you need to buy? When joining the Group: Uniform trousers and top On moving between sections: New top Note: Uniform shorts and skirts are available as an option, as are polo shirts in section colours. USED UNIFORMS We run a scheme to sell used uniform items and usually have a few for sale. If you have uniform items that are no longer needed, why not donate them to the scheme so we can use the money from their sale? Bring clean items to the Group HQ. FOOTWEAR Trainers are the normal footwear for weekly meetings. Boots are not suitable for meetings in the Group Headquarters, because hard soles may cause injury to other children during active games. |
